Pocket.watch is searching for five energetic, motivated, and enthusiastic interns for our 2019 Summer Internship Program.  Our program will provide you with hands-on experience in the fast-paced world of children’s digital entertainment.  We offer three unique internship tracks, providing our interns with the opportunity to explore multiple facets of their area of interest.

The ideal internship candidate is pursuing a career in entertainment, sales, or marketing, is eager to learn, has exceptional communication skills, and enjoys working as part of a team.

Track 1 – Production

Do you dream of being on set?  Do you love developing and producing digital content?  If so, this is the track for you.  You will:

  • Work with a production team to create unique pocket.watch-branded short form content.
  • Assist in the creation of cool sets and props.
  • Utilize creative problem solving to develop high concept videos with strong production value on a low budget.
  • Draft loglines, outlines, treatments, pitches and scripts for a variety of content.
  • Step in to a variety of on-set roles, including working with sound, camera, and art departments.

 

Track 2 – Sales & Marketing

Are you obsessed with marketing?  Do you love toys?  Have you always wondered who places products in to your favorite YouTube Show?  If this sounds like you, our Sales and Marketing Internship Track has been built with you in mind.   You will:

  • Assist with strategic marketing efforts including events, press releases and photo shoots.
  • Brainstorm to aid in the development of new marketing strategies and projects.
  • Assist with regular updates to the pocket.watch website.
  • Prepare decks and pitches for internal and external sales and licensing meetings.
  • Assist in providing talent with product information for promotional videos and branded content.
  • Conduct detailed research on competitive and marketplace trends.

 

Track 3 – Programming & Partnerships

Do you love YouTube and Social Media?  Are you intrigued by how content is distributed?  Are you curious how influencers become influencers?  Do you love analytics?  If so, our Programming & Partnerships track may be perfect for you.  You will:

  • Collect, organize, and process assets for publishing to social media, YouTube, and other streaming platforms.
  • Research YouTube videos and social media accounts, logging data and documenting insights.
  • Assist with creator outreach, communication, and logistics in support of community-based campaigns.
  • Update and maintain the pocket.watch talent database.
  • Build bi-weekly Emerging Talent highlight deck for internal distribution.
  • Conduct industry competition analyses to help pocket.watch stay on top of the latest and greatest.

  • Rig, animate, and work with directors and art assets provided to create short and long form animated shows

Pocket.watch is looking for an energetic self-starter with a passion for kids programming and digital-first content to develop, implement and evangelize a vision for a new kind of video service for kids; one that elevates the best of their digital culture and extends it with programming that echoes and enriches their lives by inspiring kids to seamlessly move between screen time and playtime in real-time. The Sr. Director of Programming will collaborate with internal teams – research, marketing, studio, partnerships, sales – to devise and execute programming strategies that grow pocket.watch brands and businesses across OTT platforms including linear and VOD. 

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement programming strategies based on market insights, testing and collaboration with internal teams.

Under the direction of the company’s General Counsel, negotiate and draft contracts covering all aspects of the company’s business, and provide business and legal advice to successfully close transactions and minimize the company’s risk.

Essential Job Functions

  • Negotiate, draft and revise merchandising license, branded integration/sponsorship, content distribution, production, creator, employment, non-disclosure, and other agreements.
  • Provide accurate and timely business and legal advice to all layers of the organization.
  • Offer proactive, practical business and legal solutions and risk management advice, including those related to COPPA and CARU.
  • Draft and solidify agreements, contracts and other legal documents to ensure the company’s full legal compliance, rights and obligations.
  • Manage multiple matters simultaneously.
  • Manage complex tasks with diverse stakeholders.
  • Maintain the company’s contract database.

Job Requirements

  • Proven experience as a lawyer in a business environment.
  • Ability to analyze complex situations and information.
  • Thorough knowledge of applicable laws and regulations.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with all members of a firm.

Education and Experience

  • Minimum of 4-6 years in a law firm or as an in-house attorney.
  • Experience working in the entertainment or technology industry required.
  • Experience working in a start-up or other fast paced environment preferred.
  • D. from a reputable law school required.

Post-Production – Assistant Editor

Location: Culver City, CA

Pocket.watch, the entertainment headquarters kids have been waiting for, is currently hiring an enthusiastic and organized Assistant Editor. The ideal candidate will be able to efficiently handle a large workload in a fast-paced environment and is very familiar with the post-production workflow.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain media vault, including exquisite file organization, asset management, and ongoing backups
  • Ingest media from shoots and set up new projects
  • Provide support for editors, including project and asset preparation, assembly, asset relinking, technical troubleshooting
  • Identify and escalate missing assets and assist in achieving resolution
  • Maintain ongoing communication with production, partnerships, and other internal teams to aid in planning and delivery of projects
  • Perform occasional light editing work
  • Exhibit grace under pressure, great people skills, and utmost integrity

Qualifications

  • 1-2 years experience in post-production as an assistant editor
  • Extremely efficient in Adobe Creative Cloud, primarily Premiere & Media Encoder, with familiarity and ability to navigate After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator, and Audition
  • Understanding of codecs, raw video files, exporting, transcoding, and compression techniques
  • Must be speedy! Work in a high volume environment with tight deadlines
  • Organized, dependable, knowledgeable, and detail oriented
  • Eager to learn new skills, tools, and techniques
  • Familiarity with Slack, Asana, and Google Drive is a plus
  • A positive and enthusiastic attitude
